Waste Management and the Long Beach International City Bank Marathon and Half Marathon are teaming up for an exciting Shoe Donation Event (PDF). This event benefits the Long Beach Rescue Mission. The Long Beach Rescue Mission is a place of healing and hope serving the emergency needs of the homeless and hungry of the greater Long Beach area through shelter and food services, rehabilitation programs, spiritually-based counseling, education and job-skills classes, and transitional housing. Waste Management is engaging the City of Manhattan Beach's participation in the shoe drive as part of the city's franchise agreement.

Gently-used running shoes are being accepted at the Waste Management/Long Beach Rescue Mission booth at the Health and Fitness Expo taking place in the Long Beach Convention Center from October 10th through October 12th.
