The City of Manhattan Beach City will be holding a public meeting for property owners in District 8 to review the utility underground design plans.

The draft plans to be presented will identify the location of all planned infrastructure for Edison and Verizon, including both above-ground and subsurface facilities such as vent pipes, vaults, hand holes and new marbelite street lights. Some examples are pictured below:

Property owners will have the opportunity to:

1) Review the proposed designs showing all infrastructure planned in the public right-of-way adjacent to each parcel.
2) Verify the correct location of each utility stub out relative to individual property service panels, and
3) Comment on the proposed designs both at this meeting and by appointment for 10 days following the meeting. The comment period closes Monday, July 7, 2008. All comments provided will be considered, and if appropriate, incorporated into the proposed designs.

We encourage you to attend this public meeting. Representatives from the City and utility companies will be present to answer questions you may have.

If property owners of District 8 vote in favor of the assessments, the utility companies plan on combining their individual design plans into a single construction project. Pursuant to the requirements of Proposition 218, construction will not commence unless more than 50% of the weighted return ballots from district property owners are in favor of the assessment and the district is officially formed. Voting for the assessment will take place once the value to be assessed to each parcel has been determined by the Assessment Engineer and noticed to property owners.
