At 10:00 AM on November 13, over five million Southern Californians, wherever they are at the time, will take part in the largest earthquake preparedness activity in U.S. history! The ShakeOut is a chance to practice drop, cover, and hold on so that we will be ready to protect ourselves in earthquakes.
The City of Manhattan Beach will be participating in the event by conducting an all-day functional exercise. The exercise will include a windshield survey of our city, opening and staffing the Emergency Operation Center for Manhattan Beach, and activating our Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and Neighborhood Watch. Our goal for this exercise is to increase community preparedness for any disaster that may occur within our city and everyone is encouraged to participate in some way. Log on to the ShakeOut website to find out how you can participate.
