The Planning Commission meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month at 6:30 PM as scheduled, some exceptions and cancellations apply. The Planning Commission is responsible for long-range planning activities, including major use permits, commercial planned development permits, zone changes, code amendments, and modification to long-range planning documents, including the City’s General Plan and Local Coastal Plan.

Meetings are broadcast live through Manhattan Beach Local Community Cable Channel 8, and Live Webcast via the City's website. Most meetings are rebroadcast at noon on the Friday following the Wednesday meeting on Channel 8 (Time Warner) and Channel 35 (Verizon).
