The City of Manhattan Beach conducted a Wastewater Rate Analysis and Proposition 218 process to determine the need for the first wastewater rate increase since 2014. The Prop. 218 process included a mailed Prop 218 notice, a Community Meeting, 6 Beach Reporter ads, a dedicated City webpage and a 49-day voting period prior to the Public Hearing.

At the May 16, 2023, Public Hearing, the votes were declared and the City Council adopted the new wastewater rates.

Rates begin November 1, 2023, but will not be reflected in utility bills until January 2024.
