Art Adventure Kid's Day Camp

A Summer Art Adventure Island


The Cultural Arts Program at the Creative Arts Center offers seasonal art themed camps designed for children 6 to 12 years old. All resident and nonresident children are welcome to register. All programs are supervised by trained art instructors and recreation leaders.

The Summer Camp is a one-week program held in August. This program is concurrent with the Manhattan Beach Unified School District vacation schedule.

Activities will include:

  • Painting
  • Drawing
  • Collage
  • 3-D Design
  • Sculpture
  • Paper mache
  • Mixed media assemblage
  • Clay and paper craft
  • Fabric and sewing

Desert island treasure hunt begins
  • Build a 3D Deserted Island
  • Create a 3D Compass
  • Build a Treasure Chest out of boxes and recycled cardboard
  • Group Project: Draw a 2D design for a boat to sail in water

Pirates and Mermaids and Sea Life, oh my!
  • Drawing and coloring Pirates, Mermaids, and Sea Creatures
  • Group Project: build a pirate ship!
  • Create the ships structure and build it out of 3D sculpture materials

Pirates Life for Me: Creating your own pirate adventure
  • Drawing 2D Treasure maps to lead to your buried treasure
  • Create 3D paper Pirate hats and decorate them
  • Group Project: cover the boat structure

Ahoy! A Sea Monkey?
  • Pirate Ship Pet and Boat Decorating
  • Sew a Sock Monkey! Using socks and decorating him to be fit for a pirate's pet
  • Group Project: Painting the boat with mixed media and making her ready to set sail

Take home the Treasure!
  • Make 3D Sea monsters out of assembled materials
  • Fill the Treasure chest with finished projects
  • Group Project: Sail/ shipwreck the boat. Open the treasure chest(invite parents

Registration confirmation must be brought to staff upon arrival to camp. Any children not registered prior to attending the Art Adventure Kid's Day Camp will not be able to stay.  Registration is currently full for this event.
