Peck Avenue Improvement Project

Notice of Community Meeting

The City of Manhattan Beach will be holding a community meeting to present and discuss plans for the upcoming Peck Avenue Improvement Project. City staff along with the Inspection team will be on hand to answer any of your questions. We look forward to seeing you there!

Background:
This year's Capital Improvement Program includes a project to enhance and preserve Peck Avenue from Manhattan Beach Boulevard to Artesia Boulevard (map), where the pavement has deteriorated over the years and tree roots have caused pavement displacement. The work will involve grinding and overlaying the asphalt roadway surface, and replacing damaged curb and gutter, sidewalk and driveway approaches where necessary.

Construction Schedule:
The General Contractor, All American Asphalt, anticipates starting construction as early as June 29, 2009, with the work estimated to last approximately 8 weeks. The City has contracted with KOA Corporation–CBM Consulting firm (KOA-CBM) to provide construction management and inspection services. KOA-CMB will have a representative on-site at all times during construction to assist residents as well as to coordinate and inspect the work. Affected residents within any imminent construction area will be given at least 72 hours advance notification. In order to assure completion of the project as scheduled, the Contractor will be permitted to work weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Traffic Control
Due to the nature of the work, intermittent street closures will be required throughout various phases of construction. The Contractor will do everything to minimize any disruptions but delays in this area are to be expected during construction, so plan on taking alternate routes whenever possible. Trash collection and/or emergency vehicles will have continuous access to the area at all times.

Parking restriction and street closure signs will be posted 72 hours in advance. The Contractor is required to maintain access to residences in the work area; however, access to some driveways may temporarily be limited due to the construction of an adjacent curb and gutter, sidewalk, or driveway approach.

City staff and the Contractor will make every effort to keep inconveniences to a minimum. Your cooperation and support of this important infrastructure improvement are greatly appreciated!
