At its December 1, 2009 meeting, City Council passed a motion to award a contract for the annual Sewer Main Replacement Project (map) to Atlas Underground, Inc. The project is part of an effort to repair sewer mains causing ongoing maintenance problems. Staff identified the following sewers as requiring rehabilitation or replacement due to histories of blockages and other maintenance problems:
• 12th Street from Fisher Avenue to Highview Avenue
• 13th Street from Manhattan Avenue to Highland Avenue
The Contractor began preliminary work on January 25, 2010. The Contractor is currently working on the 12th Street portion of the project. The duration of the construction on 12th Street is expected to be 30 working days.
