The Cities of Hawthorne, Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach are currently cooperating in a joint agency project intended to improve the intersection at Aviation Boulevard and Marine Avenue, with the City of Hawthorne acting as lead. Sequel Contractors, Inc. have been awarded the contract.
In addition to the intersection improvements, Marine Avenue will be rehabilitated from the 405 Freeway to approximately 400 feet west of Aviation Blvd. The project started on September 12, 2016 and is scheduled to be completed by January 2017.
The work includes pavement rehabilitation, replacement of missing or damaged curb, construction of gutter and sidewalk, storm drain upgrade, traffic signal upgrade and adjustment of utilities.
Please be aware that the proposed construction may pose certain inconveniences such as detours, delays, loss of street parking and temporary noise and dust. The work will be in the vicinity of residences or businesses along Marine Avenue and Aviation Boulevard and may temporarily impact access to driveways along those streets. The City of Hawthorne and the Contractor will make every effort to minimize any inconveniences. Your cooperation in observing all traffic controls and lane closures is greatly appreciated.
