The City of Manhattan Beach’s Urban Forestry program is committed to managing and enhancing the street trees in the City. The program oversees more than 12,000 trees within nearly four square miles. It is responsible for administering proper tree care, planting new trees, removing failed and hazardous trees, conducting reforestation projects in parks, municipal grounds, open spaces, medians, and streets, and maintaining a street tree database with maintenance information about trees throughout the City. Our urban forest is comprised of street trees, park trees, residential trees, native trees, plants, landscaping, and vegetation, as well as privately owned and established trees in front yards, which are within the City's tree protection zone and are protected by City Ordinance (Municipal Code 10.52.120).
The Urban Forest provides environmental benefits, adds to property values, and provides an enhanced quality of life for our beautiful City’s residents.
The City’s Urban Forester can be reached by email or by calling (310) 802-5305.
