Starting in September 2017 and continuing through February 2018, Southern California Edison (SCE) will be working in the cities of El Segundo and Manhattan Beach to make improvements to the electrical grid by replacing deteriorated towers with steel poles. This maintenance work is important to ensure the power grid is supported with up-to-date technology and reliability continues to improve.
SCE construction on Vista Del Mar (between Grand Avenue and 45th St. in El Segundo) will take place during two time periods:
- January 2 - January 19, and
- January 26 - February 2
During this time, the traffic on Vista Del Mar/Highland Avenue will be impacted during work hours (7:00 AM to 10:00 PM). Two northbound lanes and one southbound lane will remain open from 7:00 -9:00 AM. After 9:00 AM, one lane will be open in each direction.
SCE will also have construction on their project on Rosecrans Avenue west of Sepulveda Boulevard from January 22 to January 26. The traffic on Rosecrans will be impacted between the hours of 7:00 AM and 10:00 PM. The following traffic closures will occur:
- 7:00 - 9:00 AM
- One through lane westbound on Rosecrans will be closed
- 9:00 AM - 10:00 PM
- The traffic signal at Rosecrans and Sepulveda will flash red and Rosecrans will be one lane in each direction
- Los Angeles County Sheriffs will be on hand to direct traffic when light is flashing red, which is estimated to be until 10:00 PM January 22-26

- To ensure your safety during construction, there may be traffic lane and sidewalk closures. Crew members will use appropriate traffic control signs and flags. Please exercise caution when approaching a work area due to the presence of equipment and personnel.
- The work will take place primarily on the north side of Rosecrans Avenue from Highland Avenue to Sepulveda Boulevard, and along North Crest Drive in Manhattan Beach.
