Edison Upgrades in El Segundo and Manhattan Beach on Rosecrans Avenue west of Sepulveda Boulevard

Work will be on Rosecrans Avenue and North Crest Drive

  • Introduction: SCE will start construction of their project on Rosecrans Avenue west of Sepulveda Boulevard from December 11, 2017 through December 15, 2017.

Starting in September 2017 and continuing through February 2018, Southern California Edison (SCE) will be working in the cities of El Segundo and Manhattan Beach to make improvements to the electrical grid by replacing deteriorated towers with steel poles.  This maintenance work is important to ensure the power grid is supported with up-to-date technology and reliability continues to improve. 

Please be advised of the following:

  • In some cases, large equipment such as cranes may be used. Please remain at a safe distance.
  • There may be noise associated with construction activities.
  • To ensure your safety during construction, there may be traffic lane and sidewalk closures. Crew members will use appropriate traffic control signs and flags. Please exercise caution when approaching a work area due to the presence of equipment and personnel.
  • The work will take place primarily on the north side of Rosecrans Avenue from Highland Avenue to Sepulveda Boulevard, and along North Crest Drive in Manhattan Beach.

SCE will start construction of their project on Rosecrans Avenue west of Sepulveda Boulevard from December 11, 2017 through December 15, 2017. The traffic on Rosecrans Avenue will be impacted during work hours (7:00 AM to 10:00 PM).  Details of traffic closure include:

  • 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM: All of eastbound Rosecrans Avenue through and turn lanes are open; One through lane westbound on Rosecrans Avenue will be closed, one through lane westbound on Rosecrans Avenue will remain open.
  • 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM: The traffic signal at the Rosecrans Avenue/Sepulveda Boulevard intersection will be placed on flashing red operation; All traffic on Rosecrans Avenue west of Sepulveda Boulevard will be shifted to the south side of the center median; one through lane remains open in each direction on Rosecrans Avenue.
  • Los Angeles County Sheriff staff will be hired by SCE to direct traffic at the intersection for the entire duration of traffic signal flashing red operation (9:00 AM to 10:00 PM); The traffic signal will be back to normal operation at 10:00 PM.
