Construction Alert - Upgrading Electrical at Highland Avenue and Rosecrans Avenue
In partnership with the City Manhattan Beach, SCE has committed to upgrading its circuits and other infrastructure throughout Manhattan Beach. This work includes targeted efforts on the Salmon Circuit, which provides power to El Porto and portions of the tree section. These neighborhoods have experienced several power outages over the past several months, and this upgrade should help address system failures.
One major part of the Salmon Circuit upgrade includes setting a new underground vault on Highland Avenue, just north of Rosecrans Avenue in the southbound lane. Due to the size of the underground vault and the crane needed to place it, traffic will be heavily impacted between 9:00 AM and 3:30 PM, starting Monday, May 20, 2019 and lasting through Friday, May 24, 2019. Please note that the project may be extended beyond 3:30 PM the afternoon of Wednesday, May 22, 2019 due to the vault-setting activities.
The signals at intersection of Highland Avenue and Rosecrans Avenue will be turned to flashing red between 9:00 AM and 3:30 PM, and southbound traffic will be routed into one northbound lane while the work is underway next week.
Please consider avoiding this intersection and taking an alternate route during week of May 20, 2019 as significant traffic delays are expected. If you have any questions, please contact the City’s Public Works Inspector, Carl Blank III, at (310) 802-5306.
