The City of Manhattan Beach is exploring the feasibility of creating an underground infiltration system for storm water flows diverted from the storm drain on 28th Street. If constructed, it would improve water quality at the beach and for Santa Monica Bay.
Benefits
- Improves water quality locally, on the beach and in Santa Monica Bay
- Enhances beach conditions
- Reduces trash/debris and bacterial discharges from the drainage system
- Reduces the potential for beach closures
- Creates opportunities for education and outreach to local communities
- Provides an enhanced environment for marine life
- Improves the 26th Street Parking Facility
