FAQ's
Is this the only paper shredding event for 2021?
No, this is not the only paper shredding event for 2021. There will be additional weekend paper shredding events in 2021. Click here to make sure you are signed up for e-news (Recycling category) and City calendar updates (Environmental Events) and be the first to know about future event dates.
I have more than three boxes of paper documents that need to be shredded. Are there other resources available to me?
Yes! The City's Document Destruction page highlights a couple options available for paper shredding.
Can my household or business participate on both Saturday and Sunday?
Yes, a household or business may participate on both days. However, the (3) three banker box per day limit will still be in place; no exceptions. Event staff will not accept more than (3) three banker boxes per household or business.
I've noticed that a couple of other cities in Southern California have already had paper shredding events this spring. Why is Manhattan Beach only having theirs now?
When closures first began last year related to COVID-19 safety, Waste Management committed to the City that it would make up the events missed during the pandemic. They are holding to this commitment. Manhattan Beach has chosen a more conservative approach with regards to any public event. We understand that this decision may not be sufficient for everyone, but the health and wellness of the community is our priority.
Are you accepting any other materials for recycling at this event?
No. Only paper for shredding will be accepted at this event. For resources on other disposal needs from bulky items to hazardous waste, please visit the City's Refuse Services page or contact Waste Management directly at (310) 830-7100.
