2019 General Municipal Election - March 5, 2019

On March 5, 2019, the City of Manhattan Beach conducted a General Municipal Election for two City Councilmember seats with a term of three years and eight months. ThoseElections 2019 Ad elected on March 5, 2019, have shortened terms by four months and will expire in November 2022.  

 

 

The nomination period for the two City Councilmember seats has closed.

At 4:00 PM on Monday, December 10, 2018, in the City Council Chambers at Manhattan Beach City Hall, the City hosted a meeting to provide all candidates an opportunity to hear from the City's Executive Management team regarding various programs and services provided by each department. The Department Heads were also available to answer questions about City operations.

Ballot Measure A

At the December 4, 2018, meeting, City Council adopted Resolution Nos. 18-0521 placing a ballot measure on the March 5, 2019, General Municipal Election to increase the City’s uniform hotel/motel occupancy tax (TOT) to 14% and directed the City Attorney to prepare an impartial analysis. Additionally, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 18-0164  providing for the filing of rebuttal arguments for city measures submitted at Municipal Elections. Consistent with the elections code, the City Clerk has posted a notice to voters regarding the date after which no arguments for or against the City Measure may be submitted to the City Clerk.
