Waste Reduction
Living a Zero Waste lifestyle may be something you've heard about, but may not know where to start. There are several easy things you can do to reduce the amount of waste generated in your everyday life. One Green Planet offers 10 steps you can take to Adopt a Zero Waste Lifestyle and help prevent thousands of tons of trash from reaching landfills, improve air and water quality, and even save some money.
You can also find out more about what you can do to reduce the amount of trash you send to the landfill by visiting our other Zero Waste webpages, and the Public Works Environmental and Refuse Services website:
- The Document Destruction webpage will tell you what you need to do to destroy old documents, photos, CDs, Floppy Disks, and X-Rays.
- The Donate Used Goods webpage has information on donation centers that will help you keep usable items out of the landfill.
- The City of Manhattan Beach provides convenient doorstep pickup or drop-off location resources for properly disposing of household hazardous waste (HHW), E-waste and U-waste. Learn more about proper sharps, unwanted medication, and battery disposal as well.
