This is non-instructional time for students to work on their projects in the ceramics studio. Students must be at least 18 years old, currently enrolled or have been enrolled in the past 2 years in a Manhattan Beach Parks and Recreation Ceramics class.

Fees
Must be paid using Ceramics Bucks which can be purchased from the Parks and Recreation Department located in Manhattan Beach City Hall (1400 Highland Avenue) and at the Manhattan Beach Art Center (1560 Manhattan Beach Boulevard).
Manhattan Beach Residents: $20
Non-Manhattan Beach Residents: $25

Open Lab Hours
Open Lab hours are ongoing and are closed on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Independence Day (July 4th), Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day unless otherwise posted. 

Office Hours with Ceramics Supervisor, Eric Brinkman
Drop-in office hours for all things ceramics are now available every Tuesday* afternoon from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Live Oak Tennis Office with Ceramics Supervisor, Eric Brinkman. No need for reservations. Bring your questions, ideas, or simply share your passion for ceramics!

Clay, Glazes and Slips

Only clay purchased from the Manhattan Beach Ceramics Studio may be used, no clays brought in from other sources may be used nor fired at the Ceramics Studio.
Only glazes and slips provided by the Manhattan Beach Ceramics Studio may be used.
Regular clay is $15 and Porcelain clay ranges from $15 to $45.

 

Ceramics Bucks
Ceramics Bucks are just like cash and can be used to purchase Open Lab, clay, slip, and tools in the Ceramics Studio. Purchase Ceramics Bucks from the Parks and Recreation Department in City Hall. Ceramic Bucks are sold in increments of $10 - $100.

Notes

  • Please keep in mind, while we provide some tools for use in the studio, you may need to bring your own.
  • Lockers and cubbies are reserved for students taking full length classes.
  • Please pick up your artwork in a timely manner, any artwork left unattended for a period of 2 months or longer may be discarded.
  • The City of Manhattan Beach, the Parks and Recreation Department, nor the Cultural Arts Division are responsible for loss or damage to artwork, tools or personal belonging left in the Ceramics Studio.
