Afterschool REC Program 2024-2025
The REC Program is a user-pay program open to children ages 5½ to 12 or children in grades 1-5. Ratio is 1 leader to 10 children. Children will be participating in self-directed and organized recreational activities designed to positively impact social connections, human development and lifelong learning. All activities are supervised by trained CPR certified recreation leaders.
The REC Program offers: homework help, art and crafts, music, dance parties, movies, fitness fun, snacks, gardening, cooking, sports, tournaments, themed activities, and more. Children will be participating in self-directed and organized recreational activities designed to positively impact social connections, human development and lifelong learning. Remember to register early!
The Afterschool REC Program and REC Camp are closed on Labor Day (September 2, 2024), Thanksgiving (November 28 and 29, 2024), Memorial Day (May 26, 2025).
Registration for the 2024-2025 Afterschool REC Program opens Monday, July 8th at 6 AM online for residents and nonresidents.

EXTENDED CARE
For children in grades 1-5 only, the Extended Care Program offers after school pick up from four local elementary schools: Meadows Elementary, Pennekamp Elementary, Pacific Elementary, and Grand View Elementary. Children in Kindergarten and Robinson school can choose the park drop off location.
The REC Program is open Monday – Friday from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM and Wednesday at 1:45 PM to 6:00 PM
- REC Program staff will meet the children at each school and walk them to their home park.
- Meadows and Pennekamp Elementary will walk to Manhattan Heights Park.
- Pacific and Grandview Elementary will walk to Live Oak Park.
- If enrolled in Afterschool REC for the month of September 2023, children will receive Afterschool REC services free of charge August 23-31, 2023. (There will be no walking August 23rd, 24th, and 25th).
- All day REC Drop off for most MBUSD holidays for enrolled months, (7:30 AM to 5:30 PM) Manhattan Heights Park and Live Oak Park.
- REC Camps during enrolled months, (7:30 AM to 5:30 PM). Excludes REC Summer Camp.
- Late night REC Program 1st Friday of the month (September 2023 to June 2024)
from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
If you would like to withdraw from the REC Program, you may do so by submitting a withdrawal form (PDF) to David Ibarra via email by the 15th of the month to cancel for the following month. Any withdrawal requests received after the deadline may be charged the full amount for the upcoming month.

- You may drop off your registration form in a City drop box, located in front of City Hall and near the Library, at any time

Registration confirmation must be brought to staff upon arrival to the program. Any child(ren) not registered prior to attending the REC program will not be able to stay.
