Outstanding Water Project Award - Peck Reservoir Replacement Project

On July 11, 2024, the Peck Reservoir Replacement Project was presented with the 2024 Outstanding Water Project Award by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Metropolitan Los Angeles Branch. The award recognizes a project each year where the primary purpose is the supply, storage and conveyance of potable and / or recycled water, and which demonstrate innovation and improves the state of the practice for water supply and delivery projects.

 


2024 ACEC Polliwog Park Lower Playground2024 ACEC Award 

Commendation Award - Polliwog Park Lower Playground Replacement Project

The Polliwog Park Lower Playground Replacement Project was selected for a Commendation Award by the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) in the California 2024 Engineering Excellence Awards competition. The awards competition honors excellence in all aspects of engineering. This project was selected for high quality construction management through the challenges of the site's location in a stormwater detention basin, record rainfall, and protecting the shallow sewer line running under the playground.


 

2023 APWA AWARD2023 APWA Award 

Decorative Crosswalks and Safety Enhancements - Biennial Slurry Seal Project

The safety enhancements involved the repair and preservation of 9 miles of roadway and patterned decorative crosswalks installed at 4 intersections in Manhattan Beach. The work included traffic striping improvements, servicing flashing beacons and in-road warning lights, and repairing concrete stairs. The project transformed heavily used crosswalks into artistic traffic-calming paths that promote pedestrian awareness. The eye-catching designs increase public art while celebrating the unique identity of North Manhattan Beach.


 

2021 APWA AWARD2021 APWA Award 

Downtown Traffic Signal Upgrade Project 

The City's Downtown Traffic Signal Upgrade project involved reconfiguration of five intersections in Manhattan Beach, readying the busy downtown for the summer season in 2021. With 36 new traffic signal poles, new multi directional scramble crosswalks, drought tolerant landscaping and intersection artwork among other enhancements, the reconfigured intersections provide enhanced pedestrian mobility and increased connectivity by linking local attractions like the Manhattan Beach Pier, restaurants, and local retailers.

Manhattan Beach Pier and Roundhouse Beautification Project 

The Roundhouse Aquarium interior renovation included an overall interior remodel and reconfiguration of the aquarium along with two upgraded public-access restrooms. The Roundhouse improvements were consistent with the original architectural character and design of the building. The beautification project enhanced the overall architecture, exhibit designs, and interactive elements.
