November 2024 Update

In September 2024, contractor completed the steel erection, final concrete flatwork, electrical, gas line run to existing and new kiln (final connection pending), and wall erection with 1st layer of board.

The contractor is returning end of October 2024 to finish the wall, metal roof with downspouts, fencing and gates (except slot left open for kiln delivery), and final gas line cutover to existing kilns. Final cutover to exiting kilns will require downtime of the existing kilns - staff will work with Parks & Recreation for this shutdown. Then the kiln vendor will deliver and install the new kiln. Contractor will close the slot in fencing post kiln delivery. See updated construction diagram below.

The Project will install a new adjacent to existing kiln outside area of the Parks and Recreation Ceramic Studios building located in Live Oak Park. The new kiln will be utilized to enhance offerings of the Ceramic Studio programs and classes by the Parks and Recreation Department. The project will also include concrete work, covered metal shelter for the kiln, fencing, utility connections, and miscellaneous appurtenances.
