Since 2022 the City has replaced 13,500+ water meters with new, highly-accurate meters. These advanced meters send usage data to The City through a wireless network. This technology is known as Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI).

My Water Advisor

A NEW CUSTOMER PORTAL TO TRACK YOUR WATER CONSUMPTION.

With the recent completion of this project, a new customer portal, My Water Advisor, is now available to all utility customers. The My Water Advisor portal will enable customers to view their daily water consumption, set up leak alerts, and more. In addition to the YouTube video below, the City created an informational flyer for My Water Advisor (PDF) that will assist customers with creating an account.

How AMI Works

An advanced metering system uses a wireless network to provide detailed data that is easily accessible online by customers and City staff.

  • Advanced water meters transmit real time water use data over a wireless network.
  • City Staff can access data and more detailed reports about water use throughout the City.
  • Customers can access data from a web portal.

AMI Meters Can Provide Timely Notification of Leaks and Assist with Water Conservation Efforts

Finding and fixing leaks has been identified as a water-saving measure under Governor Newsom’s Executive Order N-10-21. Replacing traditional water meters with data-centric AMI meters allows customers to set up email or text alerts for suspected leaks, billing cycle consumption limits, and vacation usage.
