City of Manhattan Beach
Home MenuMayor's Welcome
Welcome to Manhattan Beach!
We're a classic, casual California beach town with upscale amenities and easy access to LAX. We pride ourselves on our small town charm, beautiful beach, family-friendly lifestyle, sports and recreation opportunities and signature community events. With just over 35,000 residents, we're known for our iconic pier, award winning schools, and a vibrant downtown loaded with unique shops, fine dining and historic pubs. Manhattan Beach is a wonderful place to live, work, and visit.
The Manhattan Beach Pier and Roundhouse Aquarium is a natural starting point for discovering our town. It is at the heart of our charming downtown shopping and dining district. You can play beach volleyball, shop, and enjoy delicious eateries all within a few blocks of each other. As home to beach volleyball, each August we host the Manhattan Beach Open, the most prestigious professional beach volleyball tournament in the world.
Our residents cherish our hometown traditions. Every year we host multiple events, such as the International Surf Festival, 6Man Beach Volleyball Tournament, and Concerts in the Park. October hosts the community favorites, the Manhattan Beach 10K and Old Hometown Fair, as well as the World Famous Pumpkin Races. To top it all off, a wonderful display of fireworks light up the sky in December during the annual Holiday Fireworks event.
As Mayor, I am committed to continuing our traditions and serving our residents, visitors and businesses at the highest level possible. Along with my fellow Councilmembers, our top priorities are public safety and quality of life, with a focus on maintaining our small town atmosphere and low profile development. But wait, there's more! We're constantly changing and improving and we're taking steps to make Manhattan Beach more inclusive, more environmentally friendly, more beautiful with public art and revitalized public spaces. With our devoted team of City employees, we will work to collaborate with our partners and create a local government exemplifying the best in serving residents with care, competence, and compassion.
Thank you for visiting our website. If you have any trouble finding what you need, please do not hesitate to contact us.
I look forward to seeing you at the beach or around town.
Mayor Amy Howorth
