2010 Sustainability Summit

Climate. Oceans. Community. Working Together to Protect Our Planet

Sunday, October 10, 2010 will be a landmark day for environmental activism around the world. To join in on this global environmental movement, the City of Manhattan Beach is hosting an all-day Sustainability Summit and Eco-Fair on 10-10-10, and we invite you to join us.

The Summit will feature a three-panel discussion on sustainability, water conservation through sustainable landscaping, and climate change from 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM. We are pleased to welcome keynote speakers Bob Perry and David Nahai to our community, and look forward to learning from their expertise. The event is free, but we ask that you please bring along some canned food to donate to the LA Food Bank collection.

Following the Summit we are hosting a "work party" event designed to teach you how to plant and maintain a beautiful California friendly garden using drought tolerant plants from 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM. Throughout the day we will feature an Eco-Fair to highlight our local green businesses, utilities, and environmental organizations that can help you reduce your environmental impact. The Eco-Fair will take place from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM on 13th Street, adjacent to the Civic Center Plaza.

Please refer to our Going Green website and Event Agenda for more information. If you are interested in participating, sponsoring a portion of the event, or featuring your green business at the Eco-Fair, please contact Sona Kalapura at (310) 802-5058.
