It's Spring cleaning time!
The County of Los Angeles will be hosting its annual Manhattan Beach Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Round-Up on Saturday, March 19th. This event is open to all Los Angeles County residents! Many items are too toxic to place in your trash can and must be disposed of as hazardous waste.
What Materials Are Accepted?
Hazardous Waste (HHW), Electronic Waste (E-Waste), Universal Waste (U-Waste), Medicines:
All types of paints, stains/varnishes, solvents, glues, antifreeze, used motor oil and filters, transmission fluid, coolants, batteries, lighter fluid, acids, pesticides, household cleaners, pool chemicals, CRT's (computer monitors), old TVs, compact fluorescent tubes and bulbs, thermostats and other mercury-containing lamps, batteries, Sharps and medicines.
DO NOT BRING:
Business waste, explosives, ammunition and radioactive materials, trash, tires, controlled substances, and white goods such as refrigerators, stoves and washing machines. White goods can be picked up by Waste Management from your home (call (310) 830-7100 to schedule a pickup).
Be Sure That:
- The containers are not leaking.
- You DO NOT mix hazardous waste.
- The contents of the containers are the same as stated on the label.
- You do not bring items during rain as the collection is suspended during that time.
- Not more than 15 gallons of paint or 125 pounds of hazardous waste are brought to each visit.
- You bring a valid form of identification such as a California drivers license or California I.D.
Physically Disabled Program:
If you are not able to transport your HHW materials due to physical impairment, and live within a five (5) mile radius from the Round Up location, please contact Armine Kesablyan at (626) 458-3548 to schedule an HHW pick up from your home on March 19th for FREE.
