On Saturday, September 24th, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM over 40 different community groups and organizations, local businesses, clubs and cities are partnering to promote sustainability and healthy living in the South Bay. These efforts are exemplified by the support and passage of the South Bay Bicycle Master Plan and the Vitality City Livability Plan, and the wide ranging benefits that come from both.
The City of Manhattan Beach is hosting the event and closing 13th Street to motor vehicle traffic between Valley Drive and Morningside Drive where we will stage a fun, fossil-free, family-friendly festival featuring exhibitor booths, demonstrations, workshops, interactive displays and free resources all focused on increasing biking, walking and healthier living in the South Bay.
Partnering with Manhattan Beach in Moving Planet South Bay are the South Bay Bicycle Coalition, Healthways Blue Zone| Vitality City, Transition South Bay LA, South Bay 350 Climate Action Group and the Cities of Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach, all of whom will be participating and are encouraging Beach Cities residents to bike, walk, run, rollerblade or skateboard to the festival and show their support for the Bicycle Master Plan and the Vitality City Livability Plan.
In addition, over 30 Manhattan Beach businesses are supporting Moving Planet by offering special incentives to those who use their feet and mention Moving Planet when they visit each store. So make sure to bike, walk, rollerblade or skateboard to support the Bike/Walk-Friendly Business District.
More information on the event is available on the Moving Planet flyer (PDF) and South Bay 350 website. Please contact Sona Kalapura with any questions you might have about the Moving Planet event.
