On November 30, 2011, the El Segundo power plant will begin work to modify a portion of the beach bike path in the City of El Segundo. The County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works has issued a permit to the power plant owner, El Segundo Power, LLC, to construct the bike path modifications. The modifications will include reconstruction of the plant’s westerly perimeter wall and realignment of approximately 800 feet of bike path at the north end of the plant to be approximately 6 to 10 feet west of its current alignment.
Improvements to the bike path and perimeter wall are expected to continue until the last week of May 2012 (before the Memorial Day Weekend) and resume September 2012 (following the Labor Day Weekend) until approximately November 2012. The path will remain open at all times.
The County has approved night work (8:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M.) for the first three weeks of the work. Otherwise all other work will be performed during the day.
