The Marvin Braude Bike Trail, or "the bike path," as it is referred to by locals, runs mostly parallel to the Pacific Ocean along 22 miles of the South Bay. In Manhattan Beach, it is located just west of the Manhattan Beach Strand. The bike path will be undergoing slurry improvements from 45th Street in Manhattan Beach to Grand Avenue in El Segundo. The bike path will be rerouted from Wednesday, November 13, 2013 through Friday, November 15, 2013 between the hours of 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Users will be rerouted on 45th Street to the Highland Avenue walkway in order to continue north on Vista Del Mar. The bike path south of 45th Street will be fully available to users.
The El Segundo Energy Center is spearheading these bike path restoration efforts. The project is neither initiated nor managed by the City of Manhattan Beach. The contractor performing the work, ARB Inc., will provide traffic control for the duration of the project, including signage. Click here to view the El Segundo Energy Center's formal detour notification letter. The contractor will place signs along the following locations of the bike path in Manhattan Beach indicating the location and purpose of the detour, and the project information contact name and phone number:
Sign location 1: Northbound/Southbound on the Marvin Braude Bike Trail at 1st Street
Sign location 2: Northbound/Southbound on the Marvin Braude Bike Trail at Manhattan Beach Boulevard
Sign location 3: Northbound/Southbound on the Marvin Braude Bike Trail at Rosecrans Avenue
