Join us for a special community meeting on October 22, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Joslyn Community Center to learn about how we are preparing for El Niño. In their most certain forecasts to date, the Climate Prediction Center, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the World Meteorological Organization have indicated that there is a 95% chance that El Niño will continue to evolve through the 2015-2016 Winter.
City Departments, in collaboration with the Los Angeles County Flood Control District, will share with the Community our action plan to address flood issues related to the protection of property and public safety. We will also give insight on the human and equipment resources that we have available to manage challenging storms, in addition to providing an overview of our emergency response plan.
The community will also be provided with tips on:
- How to prepare for a storm, what to do during a storm, and actions to take after a storm.
- Harvesting stormwater for landscape irrigation purposes.
Please call the Public Works Department at (310) 802-5324 if you have any questions.
