Beginning in April will be a sewer main rehabilitation project comprised of constructing a new sewer main in four streets in the City’s Sand Section. The sewer project work will take place in the roadway, sidewalk and/or walkway areas at the following locations:
1. 3rd Street: from Ingleside Drive to Crest Drive
2. 4th Street: from Ingleside Drive to Valley Drive
3. Ingleside Drive: from 5th Street to 7th Street
4. 7th Street: from Crest Drive to Valley Drive (pedestrian walk street)
The purpose of this project is to replace the sewer mainlines that are deteriorated and increase pipe size. The sewer main replacement will reduce maintenance and the potential for sewage backups within the project area. In addition, the new sewer mainline will be constructed in the roadway or walkway street in order to reduce the potential for future excavation within the encroachment area. The proposed construction will primarily consist of the installation of new sewer manholes & mainline pipe, reconnection of existing house service laterals and restoration of existing surface improvements. The existing (old) sewer main will be abandoned in place.
GENERAL PROJECT SCHEDULE (April – October 2016)
-
Ingleside Drive: April – May
-
7th Street: April – June
-
3rd Street: July – August
-
4th Street: September – October
The above dates are project schedule estimates. The Contractor will submit a more detailed construction schedule prior to commencing the work and residents within the immediate, affected construction areas will be notified at least 72 hours in advance and as the work schedule progresses. Please make note that each street location will take approximately 30 working days to complete the sewer replacement and final pavement restoration will, collectively, follow after similar project streets have been completed.
The General Contractor, Miramontes Construction Company, will commence construction the week of April 4, 2016 and complete the work within 140 working days. During the construction period, a project consultant Construction Manager and Inspector will be available to provide assistance to residents and coordinate the work. The Contractor will be permitted to work from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays in order to expedite the completion of the project.
Due to the nature of the work, road closures on 3rd Street, 4th Street and Ingleside Drive will be required throughout the various phases of construction. No-parking signs, detours and road closures will be posted 72 hours prior to commencing each location. Also, when required, access into and out of intersecting local streets will be temporarily restricted to complete the work. Provisions in the contract require that the Contractor maintain access to residences in the work area; however, access to some driveways may be temporarily limited due to the adjacent sewer construction.
Delays are expected so we recommend you identify an alternate route, when possible.
