Verizon is overseeing/constructing a small project across Highland Avenue at 18th Street (walk street intersection) that starts September 9, 2009, and will run approximately one week. The primary trench construction will begin today and continue through Friday, September 11, 2009. Completion of the work will most likely happen next week.

The project involves the installation of an above-ground fiber-optic FDH Cabinet on the east side of Highland Avenue in the sidewalk area (adjacent to an existing bus stop location). The cabinet will then be connected underground to an existing Verizon vault directly across to the west side of Highland Avenue.

Verizon will make every effort to keep one lane of traffic in each direction open at all times along Highland Avenue. However, there will be times when traffic will be periodically stopped to move equipment and personnel across Highland Avene, so expect some delays.

Residents in the immediate area have been notified of the work by Verizon.
