2011 ETF Recommendations:

The 2011 ETF developed several recommendations to help the community reduce its energy and water consumption in order to help meet City-wide commitments to lower greenhouse gas emissions and conserve water. The program recommendations were approved by City Council on October 4, 2011 and included:

• Landscape Sustainability Audit
• Solar Display at Metlox
• Community Mulch Program: visit the City’s Public Works Yard to obtain as much FREE mulch as you need
• Post Office Demonstration Garden

2008-2010 ETF Recommendations:

The Environmental Task Force made recommendations dealing with climate action and greenhouse gas emissions reductions, green building standards, water conservation, and solid waste and recycling. Climate Action

• Consideration of a Municipal Climate Action Plan for the City of Manhattan Beach
• Consideration of Environmental Task Force Recommendations to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions 

Sustainable Design

• Consideration of Recommendations By the Environmental Task Force to Amend the Municipal Code for Comprehensive Sustainable Building Measures
• Consideration of the Environmental Task Force Green Building Recommendations for Municipal Buildings and Large Non-Residential Construction

Solid Waste and Recycling

• Presentation of a Waste Reduction Plan from the Environmental Task Force;
• Environmental Task Force Solid Waste and Recycling Subcommittee (SWRS) Recommendations for the Next Solid Waste Contract and Discussion of the Expiring Contract

Water Conservation

• Consideration of Water Conservation Recommendations from the Environmental Task Force - Water and Storm Water Sub-Committee (WSWS)
• Consideration of an Ordinance to Revise Chapter 7.44 - Water Conservation Ordinance – of the City of Manhattan Beach Municipal Code
