Traffic Advisory: Lane Closure for Fiber Optic Cable Installation

April 29 through May 31, VCI Construction will be working on Highland Avenue between Rosecrans Avenue and 45th Street to install fiber optic cables in conduits. One northbound lane on Highland Avenue will be closed to traffic Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Manhattan Beach City Manager Announces Retirement

At last night’s Council meeting, City Manager Bruce Moe announced his retirement from the City of Manhattan Beach, culminating his 35 year career with the City. The City Council will be discussing options for his successor at future closed session meetings.

Manhattan Beach Sponsors Bill Allowing Local Prosecution of Misdemeanors

The City of Manhattan Beach is sponsoring a bill to revise state law which would allow cities to prosecute misdemeanors. Under current law, many cities must first obtain the permission of the county District Attorney in order to prosecute such misdemeanors.

Chill The Build’s Lawsuit Challenging Highrose Housing Project Dismissed

In January 2023, the City Council approved a housing project proposed for the Verandas Beach House site, located at 401 Rosecrans Avenue. Shortly thereafter, a group named Chill The Build, LLC, filed a lawsuit against Manhattan Beach, challenging the Council’s approval of the project.
