City to Re-Open Tennis, Paddleball & Pickleball Courts
Manhattan Beach, CA (May 15, 2020) - Beginning Friday, May 22 at 7:00 AM, the City’s public tennis courts, paddleball courts and pickleball courts will re-open for singles play only, and with modified hours and restrictions for public access. To reduce crowding at the courts and provide a streamlined process for users to secure a public court, online reservations will be made available at www.citymb.info/tennis.
“I am pleased the City is able to re-open the courts at Live Oak Park and Manhattan Heights for use. Tennis, paddleball, and pickleball are unique sports that allow players to practice social distancing while enjoying the benefits of staying healthy and active outdoors. As a general reminder, please be responsible and adhere to the new protocols in place,” said Mayor Richard Montgomery.
On-line reservations will be available for users three days prior to the requested court time beginning Tuesday, May 19 at 7:00 AM. Guidelines in accordance with the County’s re-opening protocols for play, modified hours, personal health and safety requirements are listed on the City’s website at www.citymb.info/tennis.
The City will continue to monitor and evaluate the conduct and behavior of players, their willingness to exhibit safe practices, and Coronavirus trends in the community. The City may adjust openings and closures based on such information.
City officials are in discussions with Manhattan Beach Unified School District (MBUSD) about re-opening Mira Costa High School tennis courts for reservations. Check the City’s website for the latest information.
