Rescheduled: Bruce’s Beach Plaque Dedication Ceremony
Due to inclement weather, the Bruce’s Beach Plaque Dedication Ceremony, which was originally scheduled for Saturday, February 25, 2023, has been rescheduled to Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Bruce’s Beach Park.

The City of Manhattan Beach is proud to announce the unveiling of a new plaque at Bruce’s Beach Park on Saturday, February 25 at 10:00 AM. The event will feature a ribbon cutting and include official remarks by Mayor Steve Napolitano as well as guest speakers.

Manhattan Beach Temporary Outdoor Dining Program to End February 28
On Tuesday, January 17, the Manhattan Beach City Council unanimously voted to end the temporary outdoor street dining program created during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, and directed staff to expedite planning for a permanent outdoor dining program for Council consideration.

MB Pier Closing Due to High Surf Advisory and High Tides
The Manhattan Beach Pier will be closed beginning at noon, Thursday, January 5 through 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 7, due to the high surf advisory and high tides. According to U.S. National Weather Service, the surf is forecasted to be upwards of 12 to 16 feet.

Manhattan Beach City Council Approves Funding for MBUSD Security Cameras
At its meeting on December 6, 2022, City Council unanimously approved $250,000 from the City’s Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) to support funding for cameras at Manhattan Beach Middle School and Mira Costa High School.

Residents and Businesses Using 100% Green Power are Projected to Save Money on Electrical Bills
In October 2021, more than 90% of Manhattan Beach homes and businesses transitioned to using 100% clean. As a result of this action, Manhattan Beach is helping to reduce an estimated 74 million pounds of harmful greenhouse gas emissions annually.

Factfinding Report and Public Hearing on the Manhattan Beach Firefighters’ Association Negotiations
As part of the impasse process, a factfinding hearing requested by the MBFA was held on August 5, 2022. A neutral factfinder heard testimony from both parties during this hearing and a final factfinding report was issued on Friday, September 9, 2022.

MB Homeless Count Shows a Decrease in the Unhoused
Results of the 2022 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count reveal a 40% reduction in people experiencing homelessness in Manhattan Beach from 2020 (due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a count was not conducted in 2021), according to the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA).
